Toddler falls from apt. window after screen gives way

MILLCREEK — Firefighters responded to a Millcreek apartment building Tuesday morning after a 18-month-old boy fell from an apartment window.

Unified Fire officials say the child fell through a screen window at the Parkway Commons Apartments on 875 West and 3900 South.

“Fortunately the child landed on soft, relatively soft surface, which was the grass. It had been watered recently so that was fortunate,” said Unified Fire Capt. Cliff Burningham.

The boy was taken to Primary Children’s Hospital where he is listed in stable condition. He suffered some bruising to his face.

This incident marks the third time a child has fallen from a window in the past three weeks. Firefighters warn parents to keep furniture away from windows where children can climb up to windows.

Police following lead in Sandy home robbery case

SANDY — Police are questioning a man they believe has information in the recent Sandy home burglary where an 11-year-old girl was threatened with a gun.

Police arrested Daniel Sloan Bonito in Murray over the weekend on charges of allegedly being drunk, disorderly and violating his parole. Bonito is a former ex-convict and a registered sex offender. He was sent back to prison, but now police want to know if he was involved in both a Sandy home invasion case and an armed robbery of the Merc convenience store in Cottonwood Heights earlier this month.

“Hopefully someone’s going to recognize him, contact our detectives and we’ll follow up,” says Cottonwood Heights Police Sgt. Gary Young referring to the store robbery. “Just one person, just one tip is all we need.”

Teen, mother arrested after baseball bat attack

Police in Murray arrested a teen and his mother after the boy took a bat to another man’s car during a fight about a woman.

Officers say that at about 3:30 a.m., the juvenile suspect smashed the windows of another man’s car, located at the Westwood Apts. at 4 Regal Street in Murray, before members of the victim’s family came out and confronted him.

The suspect then allegedly attacked them with the baseball bat, sending one of them to the hospital. The victim’s car was so heavily damaged, it had to be towed.

The suspect left the apartment with two other men, but police were able to locate them.

After questioning, the juvenile suspect was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and criminal mischief.

His mother, Lisa Egersdorf, had driven her son and his friends to the apartment complex. She was charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor, criminal mischief and riot.

Police follow leads after girl confronts intruder

SANDY – A day after an 11-year-old Sandy girl faced an armed intruder in her home, police are following up on several possible leads.

The girl was home alone at around 3 p.m. Friday when she says she walked into her kitchen for a snack and saw the back door open and an armed dark-skinned man in the corner of her kitchen. She says she tried to grab her cell phone to call police, but the man confronted her, pointed a gun in her face and told her not to tell anyone.

The girl was able to get away and to a neighbor’s house where they called 911:

“Tell me exactly what happened,” questioned the 911 dispatcher.

“I was inside my house, on the couch watching tv,” the girl said.

“And he went into your house.”

“Uh huh.”
