News

Salt Lake City Police were sent to an auto-pedestrian accident involving a Unified Police Department vehicle Friday night.

The accident happened about 9:15 p.m. Friday at 3000 East and 4500 South in Millcreek. Police say a Unified Police officer was driving his patrol car eastbound on 4500 South when he hit a 13-year-old girl who was crossing the street.

"A young girl, 13 years old, was walking up the north side of the street and her father was on the south side of the street. She ran across the road to where her father was parked and apparently didn't see the police car," said Lt. Brian Purvis, Salt Lake City Police Dept.

The Salt Lake City Police Dept., who is conducting the investigation, says the girl suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries.

The incident is still under investigation.
